BodyFit club starts Monday 3/11

Bring your health and fitness goals and Coach Julie will help you achieve them. Your participation will be critical and your progress toward your goals will be tracked every week. Prizes will be awarded to those that attend weekly meetings and reach monthly goal.

Holistic Approaches To Weight Loss

When we think of needing to shed some pounds we tend to automatically think “diet”. Diets can end up being only a temporary fix. Too often the weight returns and we find ourselves back at the beginning of our weight-loss journey. It can be a frustrating and disappointing struggle but wellness is always worth the effort! Don’t give up! YOU are worth it. There are Holistic Approaches that you can use to facilitate your weight loss goals and keep the weight off after you have achieved those goals.  Massage can make you feel relaxed and help alleviate stresses that often lead to binge eating. Did you know that it can aid in achieving your weight loss goals? Research has proven that massage can have a positive effect on muscle-building and fitness levels, which in turn increases your capacity to control or lose weight.

We Are Relocating

     We have exciting news to share! It has been an amazing six months thanks to the dedication and love of our clients, friends, and Practitioners. Life is a journey and it has been an honor to share our journey with them. In order to better serve our clients and the community, we are moving down the street about 1/2 mile. Our new home will be at 8 Hebron Rd in Marlborough! It’s a beautiful new home with an abundance of natural light, space and great energy!
     Street names can be a strange thing. We are currently on RT 66 but it is named East Hampton Rd. Our new home is still on RT 66 but that section is named Hebron Rd. When you are at the original traffic light in the center of town, the street changes names. The end of RT 66 closest to East Hampton is East Hampton Rd, and you guessed it, the end closest to Hebron is named Hebron Rd.
     When you come into Marlborough off of RT 2, our new home is on the left. If you get to the Subway, you have just missed us. We are in the same building as Country Roads Spirits and Wine. If you go in the lobby outside their store, our entrance is on the left. Our doorway is at the top of the stairs. We are still seeing clients during the transition.      We are still committed to helping our neighbors and the families who depend upon the assistance of Marine’s Toys For Tots. Our Toy Drive and Holiday Celebration for December 9th is still ongoing. It is just being hosted now at our new home. The Box for Donations for the Food Bank of Marlborough is moving with us! How Can Meditation Make You Happy?

 

There have been studies showing that meditation not only lowers blood pressure but also can amp up your immune system and improve your ability to concentrate. Those who meditate can choose among a wide range of practices “What they have in common are a narrowing of focus that shuts out the external world and usually a stilling of the body,” says Charles L. Raison, MD, clinical director of the Mind-Body Program at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta.
 
Raison participated in a study that indicated that meditation improved both physical and emotional responses to stress. People who meditate regularly have less activation of their immune systems and suffer less emotional distress when they were put in a stressful situation. Stress reduction could be the key to meditation’s beneficial effect on health. “We know stress is a contributor to all the major modern killers,” Raison points out. “It’s hard to think of an illness in which stress and mood don’t figure,” Raison says. Science hasn’t yet pin pointed exactly what happens in the meditating brain and the immune system, but a study at the University of Wisconsin indicated that there is an increase of electrical activity in parts of the left frontal lobe when people practice meditation. This brain area tends to be more active in optimistic people.
 
Perhaps it is because meditation helps to relieve stress and less stress can make you optimistic and being optimistic can make you happy! Meditation can bring you inner calm and a general feeling of well-being. Learning meditation can give you new tools for dealing with stress, anxiety and problems. Meditation can help you overcome negative states of mind such as anger and jealousy and cultivate positive states of mind such as patience and love.
